At 1,300 Meters in Kirinyaga County you will find the Thirikwa Farmers Co-op Society, made up of 1,550 smallholder farms, 50% of them being women owned. In 2017 Thirikwa was the best paying co-op in the Country. Cherries are delivered to the wet mill the same day they are picked and is then sorted at the wet mill prior to the pulping. Processing the ripe cherries utilize clean river water that is being recirculated before disposal into seepage pits. After processing at the wet mill the coffee is sun dried on raised tables before the delivery of the coffee to the dry mill for secondary processing.
