Young Immigrants in Maine: A Conversation on Resilience, Freedom, and the Future

Young Immigrants in Maine: A Conversation on Resilience, Freedom, and the Future
Maine has long been a place of refuge and opportunity, attracting people from around the world who seek safety, stability, and the chance to build a better life. Whether arriving by choice, by circumstance, or due to the force of shifting geopolitics, immigrants in Maine contribute immeasurably to the social and economic fabric of our communities. However, they also face growing challenges—rising discrimination, threats of deportation, and reduced support as key organizations confront funding cuts.
For young immigrants, these obstacles can feel particularly overwhelming as they work to secure their education, establish their careers, and raise families in an increasingly uncertain climate. Yet, in the face of these challenges, young immigrant activists in Maine are emerging as leaders, offering powerful lessons on resilience, the meaning of freedom, and the true value of democracy.
Join Islandport Press and Coffee By Design for a vital conversation with young immigrants who are navigating these realities while shaping a better future. Moderated by Eisha Khan, this panel will feature inspiring voices:

This event is free and open to the public.
A portion of proceeds from the evening’s book sales will be donated to Furniture Friends, a nonprofit dedicated to providing essential household items to those in need.
